Odessa High School

. . . wanting to do something spectacular

"I was chosen Homecoming Queen that year (1968). At half-time, all the stadium lights went out and no one was sure just what was going to happen. All of a sudden, I saw the bronco in lights, just like sparklers. Then, my name was in lights and no one could believe their eyes. It was too much! The crowd went crazy and just loved it. Nothing like that had ever been done and it was one of the most memorable moments for everyone attending. I am proud to have been the first and am so glad the tradition has continued. (It was really cool!)"
